Piles of Quilts!
Quilts
Quilts, like other forms of art, tell all kinds of stories. In some cases, my quilts capture memories of people and places. Some are made for a particular person and ideally capture some wonderful part of that individual. Occasionally, the quilt represents a stage of my life. Others tell stories of process and experimentation. My quilts are not often traditional in design, but do honor the long history of quilts that provide warmth, love and comfort as well as artistic expression. The quilts displayed below are wall hanging sized. Above you can see a pile of some of my larger quilts.
My Life in 2010
This is a quilt that tells the story of my life around 2010. It depicts parts of my life at that time and what I desired in the future. Both biographical and aspirational, this quilt uses appliqué to create items with symbolic meaning.

Three Cultures of My Heart
Made during the time immediately after 9/11, this quilt was my way of expressing my grief. It represents three cultures of importance to me - Red, White and Blue for the United States. The design is Japanese, reflecting my life long love of Japan and Japanese design. Finally, the design incorporates a six-pointed star which evokes my Jewish heritage. This quilt is entirely hand pieced using English Paper Piecing method.

Asian Inspired Improv - I
Asian Inspired Improv - II
These two quilts were part of a larger piece of improvisational work that I decided needed to downsize. The combinations of deep and light purples and light green, all of Asian design, combine in a variety of strips, rectangles and triangles. Heavily free motion quilted using the graffiti technique.
