Creatures of nature made with whimsy and love
It started with cats in Japanese fabrics. So many cats, large and small, every possible color and type - and all of them called out to play together and so they do! I then moved on to butterflies, birds, dogs, sea turtles, big cats, elephants and even sloths. Many of these collages and art cards are created with cotton fabrics along with yarns and ribbons. some are made of kimono silks. All of them are made with an abiding love of animals.

Taking Flight
Taking Flight includes the iconic Japanese symbol of a flying crane. This piece is created entirely of pieces of vintage kimono silks from Japan It was made using the Boro technique, which pieces layers of fabrics together to make a new textile using hand stitching. Machine stitching was added on top to add textural interest.

I’ve fallen in love with sloths! A search for sloth fabrics took me to Spoonflower which has fabric designed by artists from around the world. Sloth Full is exactly that - a textile collage full of sloths just hanging around! They live in a world of green fabrics full of plants and surrounded by ribbons and yarns that they can grab.

Undersea Fantasy
This multi-layered mixed media collage started life as a quilt block of bright Kaffe Fassett cotton fabrics. Additional fabrics, papers and yarns added depth and texture. Finally printing sea turtles with acrylic paints completed the undersea world.
